Last night was just fantabulous. I think it was the most fun I have had in China. Roy organized a little get together at his place with some of the Laowais and the local teachers as well as a few friends. We spent most of the evening chatting up a storm and then had a little impromptu dinner. I made my tuna fish dip which seemed to go over well as it was gone fairly quickly.
Marina passed out around 10:00 p.m…she had been drinking for 9 hours strait at that point so she needed some rest. Roy, Elizabeth, Sarah, Chow Chow, Sha Han and I went over to Chow Chow’s bar afterward for 3 hours of complete karaoke goof off.
As we arrived, hw woke the DJ up and opened the bar just for us…cool setting with guitars, mics, drums and what not and then we started singing….. Gosh, we did Celline, Richard Marx, Phil Collins, Boney M, and about 2 hours of non-stop Elvis….can’t beat that..no way in hell. We were all singing, dancing, drinking and just letting off some steam.
At some point, Chow Chow started playing a Chinese song that sounded pretty good. I don’t know whay it inspired me to just get up there and ask him to play it again while I improvised a song on the spot. the few artistic bones in my body were fully awake at that point and it sounded like it could have been a song from “the lost boys” soundtrack… Abit of Nick Cave mixed with a flavor of Concrete Blonde and funny lyrics.
I love this country

Badr! Hello! It’s Sarah, as in Sarah of this blog entry and KTV fame. Was just messing about on the internet researching dentists in Beijing, your blog details of your trip to the dentist popped up and mentioned Tangshan, so i had a quick flick through to remind me of home! I’m living in London now but i still miss Tangshan loads and am loving your site. Hope you and Marina and Chow Chow are all ok. Take care, Sarah p.s. didn’t Elizabeth and I make the best backing singers you could have wished for?!
