public announcement: Missing Teacher
Thursday, June 29th, 2006Every so often, you come across something that needs to be brought to a wider audience and this is one of those cases. I don’t know this person and have absolutely no relation to him or whatsover but it would be nice if his family could now his whereabouts.
(My cousin went missing 3-4 times for months at a time over a 5 year period – we only wanted to know he was still alive and that he didn’t have to come back if he didn’t want to. It’s the not knowing that causes most of the worry.)
Dear colleagues,
Information sought on missing teacher
Richard Ellis, a 32 year old British teacher based at the British Council Damascus, entered China on 6th April 2006 in order to marry his Chinese wife. He was expected to return to his teaching post in Syria but there has been no news of him for some time. It seems he used to work for English First in Shanghai so it is just possible that one of you may have had some contact with him or may have knowledge of him through the ELT Network in China. We have been asked to do what we can to find out whether he is safe and well. If you have any information as to his whereabouts this would be gratefully received.
